Well this week I was gluing up a fretboard to a neck. I use the nylon hoop clamps that Stewmac sells to attach the fretboard to the neck. but before I was ready I had to taper the fretboard. I have a simple jig for tapering the fret board that is just a carrier board with one edge that is trued square and straight to rid against a pilot bearing on a straight cut router bit. The carrier board has three toggle clamps to hold the fretboard in position. While I was tapering the fretboard it came to me. "Why don't I make an other fixture just like the taper fixture but to mount the neck to the fretboard." So to test I use the taper fixture for a dummy test. Man Why did I not try this along time ago. Well now I need to build one with on toggle clamp mounted on a riser to clamp a the heel and Three that will clamp on centerline on the necks shaft. So simple. As so as i get it made I will post pictures |

By the by, how's the shipping claim coming?[/QUOTE] FedEx will pick up the guitar from Mark today to take to their claims adjuster I should have the check in hand 7 days after they receive a copy of the commission agreement from me. There is a debate going on about wholesale value between them and myself. but my attorney has told me they are pretty much stuck to having to pay the commission price of the guitar because the product is a one of a kind instrument and can not be found elsewhere. |

Sweet! I was thinking that insuring to twice the value of the commission would leave a guy with the proper balance once the guitar was built twice and delivered... |

That would be pointless as the fine print of the contract states they only pay the repair cost or the wholesale value which ever is less. you have to produce invoices if you file a claim |

Michael That is a great Idea, if you did not think of it already. You can build your clamping jig to allow the use of a full length caul to go between the fingerboard and the toggle clamps. Nice even pressure along the whole length. Tom |
